The 1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa recently appeared on HGTV’s Scariest House in America when host Retta came to the Ozarks.

The show follows Retta as she visits unusual homes competing for a major renovation. For the Ozarks episode, however, the show also made a stop at the Crescent Hotel—because no trip through the region’s most haunted places would be complete without it. HGTV describes the episode as featuring three Ozarks homes, along with Retta’s visit to a haunted hotel.

Crescent Hotel expert guide Sarah led Retta through the historic hotel, sharing the stories behind its long-standing haunted reputation. Retta made no secret of the fact that she would rather not know what may be hiding in the halls—but hearing the stories was part of the job.

Even with some understandable hesitation, Retta took the full tour, including a visit to the morgue. The segment offered viewers a look inside the Crescent through the eyes of someone who was not necessarily hoping for a paranormal encounter, but was willing to face the hotel’s most infamous spaces anyway.

Scariest House in America Season 3, Episode 2, “Horror in the Ominous Ozarks,”airs on HGTV and is also available on HBO Max.
