Some of the most powerful moments at the Crescent Hotel happen not when a guide witnesses something alone– but when a guest sees it at the same time.
Celeste Rose has been leading ghost tours at America’s Most Haunted Hotel since August 2019. One of her very first experiences happened during ESP Weekend in February 2020, late at night in Room 218–Michael’s room.

“It was a little after three in the morning. I was sitting at the foot of the bed, waiting for the signal to lock up for the night. I was pretty tired and zoning out, staring at the curtains covering the balcony doors, when I noticed what appeared to be a mist or smoke coming through where the curtains met. My first thought was that someone might be smoking outside on the balcony—but there was no odor. The mist became the form of a man, coming towards me. He stopped slightly closer than arm’s length away. Then, turning smoothly, he headed between the bed and the outside wall toward the head of the bed, where the lady was sitting with her instrument. I was trying to figure out if I was really seeing this figure–I was so tired, I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. I kept tracking his movement toward the head of the bed when I heard a loud gasp from the guest. She said, ‘You can see him too?’ I said yes– and then her instrument went crazy, and he vanished. It was an amazing experience.” |
Room 218 has a long history of activity at the Crescent, and Michael has a well-known fondness for guests. For Celeste, it was the shared moment of recognition, a guest and a guide seeing the same thing at the same time, that made this one unforgettable.
